MR RICE- Some instructions...

Controlling MR RICE

To Move Mr Rice, you can press the arrow key that signifies the direction
that Mr Rice faces once. He will then run that way until you press the
opposite direction key. He will the stop. Press that key again, and Mr Rice
will turn around. One more press will make Mr Rice run in the opposite
direction that he was first facing. Controlling in this way takes a little
while to get used to, but it becomes much easier than the conventional method
after time. To make Mr Rice jump, press the UP key. To make him jump a few
more inches higher, press it twice in quick succession while he is stationary.
This is most useful for shooting your enemy is he is on a platform above.
In Mr Rice, you will find a variety of bonus weapons, lives or health. They
are usually locked within an ion sphere. This will change it's shape according
to what is inside. To smash the sphere, move next to it, and press the DOWN
key. It will explode, and Mr Rice will pick up what is inside. More often
than not, it will be a special weapon. To fire the special weapon, press
ENTER.

The Status Bar

On the top of the screen is a status bar. This will display what weapons Mr
Rice is carrying, how many shots he has left, his power, lives and score.
First left from the side is the shots guage. The arrow will point to the right
if it is full, and to the left if it is empty. If you have two shots left, it
will be in yellow, and if you only have one shot, it will be in red. Next
along is the picture of the weapon you are carrying. This is Mr Rices standard
gun (in this game,) and all bonus weapons are added on to this. The weapons
will be described in more depth later on. After this there is your power
indicator. It starts full, but as Mr Rice sustains hits, it goes down. When
it reches zero, Mr Rice will die. Next there is the icon of a man. The
number next to this is the number of lives left. You start with four. The last
icon is a bar chart. This is the score that you have accululated. You get
points for getting bonus wepons, lives and power, as well as for completing
levels and zones. You also get points awarded for killing nasties. The
nasties will be gone into in more detail later on.

Alien guns, Mr Rices Gun, and attachments

Fusion cannon : This is Mr Rices standard weapon. He carries it with him at
all times during the game, and it has an infinite number
of shots. It is a moderately high powered weapon, and is
very useful for destroying armoured machines.
Bolter gun : This is the enemys standard Earth weapon. It is capable of
very rapid fire, and does a low amount of damage. It is
virtually useless against armoured threats, but does some
                damage to unarmoured threats.
Bolter Shotgun: This is an updated version of the bolter gun. It fires slugs
out all at once, but it isn't capable of as rapid fire as the
standard bolter. At close range, it is deadly, but at long
range, it is nearly useless. It excellent for use against
                most organic or humanoid threats.
Laser cannon : This is the standard weapon for machanical and Reptillian
entities. It is a long range weapon, and is capable of
moderate damage. It is usefull for attacking almost
                anything.
Turreted laser: This is a modification that the enemy has used for their
hunter killers. It is capable of a 45 degree arc of fire.
Multi laser : This is a humanoid resistance version of the laser, although
the enemy has adopted it too. It fires lasers in three ways
at once, 45 degrees apart. It is very usefull for attacking
threats that are above, below or straight ahead. It is deadly
against armoured threats at point blank range, but is only
usefull for organic threats at long range. It is ideal for
                use against air threats.
Nade launcher : This is an attachment with a magazine with a capacity for 40
grenades. It Fires them at maximum power, and at 45 degrees,
but is highly innacurate. The grenades are of 'Claymore'
design, and upon exploding, fire many balls filled with
cordite. These are deadly when they hit anything; they riddle
armoured threats with holes, and the ball-bearings explode
whilst inside, but almost totally useless if they miss.
Gatling Fusion: This is the rapid fire version of the fusion cannon, and is
only used by the humanoid resistance. It does extreemly
high amounts of damage to armoured threats, and will destroy
                unarmoured threats outright.
Smart Bomb : This experimental attachment to Mr Rices gun will explode,
sending HE everywhere, except in a 'save' zone directly
behind the weapon. The effect is devestating, and if luck
holds, the weapon will destroy everything nearby except the
user. Some heavly armoured threats can hold out against the
Smart bomb, but it is unlikely. It is prone to misfire, and
                sometimes backfire.

The Enemy- a Basic Review.

Troopers :These are the basic human military slaves. They are very
numerous, and are usually armed with bolters. They will
hold their ground and fire at you until one of you is dead.
                They never rout.
Jet Troopers :The officers of the army's of the world were made into troopers
too, but they were given Jet Packs. These are suprisingly
stable machines, and are capable of sustaining flight for
several hours. These troopers will usually come for you. They
                sometimes rout.
Reptillian :These are the slaves from another conquored world. They are
usually armed with laser cannons, but are sometimes fitted out
with bolters. They sometimes have JetPacks, and they sometimes
                rout.
Seeker :These are sentient, lightly armoured machines. There are
Destroyers several different types, armed differently. They are all jet
powered, and very fast and manouverable. On the whole, once
they see you, the will not stop attacking until you are dead.
They will track you relentlessly over miles of ground until
you give up, or try to fight. They are armed with turreted
                lasers.
Walkers :These huge, stupid machines, simple patrol a given area until
they see you. Then they kill you. They are very heavily
armoured, and have 4 bolters, and 2 fusion cannons.

There are many more types, but these are only to be found on the later zones
(Levels 32 and past.) There are genetic mutants, slime monsters, and sentient
tanks, as well as many more to be found and killed by.
